Peggy Fleming & Greg Jenkins

Shortly before winning an Olympic gold medal in figure skating in 1968, Peggy Fleming got engaged to a young man named Greg Jenkins. She met Jenkins (a former ice dancer) when she was in Switzerland for the World Championships in 1965. Not only did she win her first world championship title, she also found herself in love.

Five years later, Fleming and Jenkins tied the knot in front of 350 guests near her home in Bel Air, California and eventually settled down in Los Gatos, California.

Fleming continued to skate professionally and Jenkins became a doctor of dermatology. They went onto have two sons.

Early on in their marriage, Fleming told a reporter that Jenkins is “number one in my life.” After 40 years of togetherness, this attitude hasn’t changed.

They even own and operate a vineyard and winery in Northern California. Much of the profits from their sales goes towards charities that help support breast cancer (which Fleming was diagnosed with and successfully treated for in 1998).

In celebration of their 40 years of marriage and 45 years of togetherness, we toast this inspiring couple!

Cheers!
