Louis writes:
I am a person who likes to do things in a grand manner.  But on this particular occasion, fate spoke differently.  One particular night, my girlfriend and I were hanging out in my Trans Am and talking about things.  All of the sudden it crossed my mind, if the day came, would marriage be a possibility in our relationship.  So I threw it out there and I wanted to ask the question, “Would you marry me, if I asked you one day?”  Well, as soon as I said “Would you marry me…”, my now-wife started hugging me and kissing me!  But I never finished the sentence!!  I was in such shock, I did not know what to do.

As days passed, I wanted to explain that I had not asked the full question.  But, she got more and more excited, and I liked her too much, so I confided in my best friend.  My best friend almost died, because he was dating his girlfriend for three years, and we were only dating for three months.  He really wanted me to tell her the truth, or otherwise he was going to have to propose!

The more I tried to tell her, I knew she would be very sad.  So I said, what the hell.  I went through with it, and did not tell her the true story for 15 years.  We will be married for 35 years in August.  It was the best mistake I ever made!
