There has been plenty of drama on the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which features Bruce, Kris and their socialite children. But how they got together is just as dramatic.
In 1990, Kris separated from her first husband Robert Kardashian (famous for being O.J. Simpson’s lawyer). As they were going through the divorce, she met and fell in love with former Olympian, Bruce Jenner. They had a lot in common, including the fact that they each had four children on their own.
Before her divorce was finalized, Jenner asked Kris to marry him and she accepted. But the divorce was becoming messy, so Jenner took her first husband out for a drink to make amends. In their E! True Hollywood Story, Jenner revealed that he told Kardashian that no alimony was necessary and that he would take care of Kris. After that, the divorce ended amicably and the new marriage could get underway.
On Sunday, April 21, 1991, the couple blended their family (which now included 8 children) in a private ceremony in Bel Air. The Jenners soon added two more daughters to the family. Today, you can watch all the family drama unfold on their show on E!
Here’s hoping that their anniversary is drama-free!
Tia Mowry and Cory Hardict, who had been together since the year 2000, married on this date in 2008.
The outdoor ceremony took place at the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Barbara, California. The blushing bride wore a white, empire-waisted Kevan Hall dress. Of it, she said, “I was really going for a very simple, elegant look because I wanted to look back at my pictures years down the road and say, ‘Wow, that still looks good today.’ ” Her bridesmaids wore custom rose-colored cocktail-length Tadashi gowns.
She was escorted down the aisle by her father Timothy while singer Kenny Lattimore sang “For You”. Wrapped around the base of her bouquet of pink roses was her “something new,” a diamond infinity necklace given to her by her twin sister, Tamera.
Tamera, who was the maid of honor at the wedding, also helped coordinate the wedding.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds had a Midsummer Night’s Dream – style reception, where they had their first dance to Beyonce’s “Dangerously in Love 2″. They even had a four-tier vanilla-and-red velvet wedding cake covered in pink roses.
But how did the bride feel about her big day? “The night was filled with such joy, peace, love and just extreme excitement,” she said. “It was a party. It was a celebration!” We hope that their anniversary is filled with just as much joy, love, and excitement!

Omar and I got engaged the night before Valentine’s Day. For this story to make sense, you need to know that Omar and I have a thing with penguins, which started when he bought me a giant stuffed penguin when I was having a rough time at work. It’s been a running joke ever since.
Anyway, Omar said he didn’t want to wait to exchange gifts on Valentine’s Day, and suggested that we exchange gifts right then. Omar gave me three bags, one small, one medium, and one large. I opened the small bag, and it contained a set of penguin nesting dolls! In the middle of the first set of nesting dolls was a note that said, open bag number 2.
In the second bag, was another set of penguin nesting dolls! At the middle of this set, was a note that said open bag number 3. I opened the third and largest bag, and it contained two giant penguin nesting dolls! Inside the second nesting doll, was a black box with a beautiful ring. He proposed, and I said yes.

Keith writes: In 1999, I booked a trip for my current wife and me to Las Vegas. I wanted to propose right away and set up for a limo to pick us up at the airport. We arrived tired after a day of work and a late flight. I could not find our limo driver for the life of me and my wife was getting impatient as she wanted to go to the hotel. No cell phone to call the company and a long line at the pay phone.
Finally, I found a limo driver standing around and he said he’ll take us. In the limo I was unable to find the ring in my bag. Finally I found it and was incredibly nervous and could only manage to hold out the ring and grunt. Surprisingly she said yes.
I was not aware that everything was shut down on the strip as the hotels prepared for the Millennium. Made sense why the trip was so cheap. Even though we’re not gamblers, we gambled the entire time and my wife only won when I was not around. Anytime I was near her she’d start losing and told me to move away, then she started winning. Today we’re very happily married with two beautiful daughters.

Nick & Sarah
Nick writes: After four years of dating Sarah, I was ready to propose. I had recently had some business success and asked Sarah if she wanted to celebrate with a fancy dinner. It was the perfect cover. I would have the chance to prepare for the proposal while she was at work, and have everything set up when she arrived home. But on the big day, she ended up staying home from work . I attempted to feign pleasure, but suspicions were raised.
Despite her constant presence in the house, I got everything set while she was getting ready in the bathroom. I was as quiet as a mouse, running all over. The only problem was that I am rarely quiet, and raised her suspicions again as to my activities.
So, with two reasons for Sarah to be suspicious, I was convinced that she would see the proposal coming from a mile away.
We started the evening at home with hors d’oeuvres and wine. With butterflies in my stomach, I suggested that we play a little game before dinner. I had placed one-word notes around the apartment, with clues as to where the next note would be. Each note had a quality of Sarah’s that I love and appreciate. At each note, we would sit in a different room of our home and I would expound upon how wonderful she is.
After an hour and 6 notes, we were both relaxed and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. I couldn’t believe that she hadn’t realized where this was heading. I half-expected that she would throw her shaking hands to her face somewhere along the way, just like in the movies. But she never did, and just blissfully went along with the game.
At the last note, I sat on a stool that lowered me directly to eye level with Sarah.
I told her, “I knew in my gut that I loved you the first moment we met. I knew in my heart that I loved you as we traveled across the Atlantic for 3 years. And after living together for a year, I am completely and rationally convinced that I will love you the rest of my life. So, the only question that remains is, ‘Will you marry me?’.”
And just like in the movies, she threw her shaking hands to her face and could only repeat “What! Oh my god!” before finally exclaiming “Yes!”.
I gave her a simple gold band to symbolize the moment, but told her that we would choose an engagement ring together. Then, we cleaned our tear-lined faces and set off for MK, a wonderful Chicago restaurant. We spent the rest of the evening laughing and replaying the proposal.

The graceful and charming Marie Antoine, Archduchess of Austria, was just 14 when she married the plodding but kind 15 year old Louis-Auguste and became Marie Antoinette, dauphine of France. As with many important royal marriages the two were married before they even met.
Their wedding, on April 19th, 1770, was a proxy wedding, which though strange to us, was an officially binding ceremony. It was believed that a royal woman needed the status and protection of her new rank as she traveled to her new home. Therefore Antoine and Louis were married in Vienna at the Church of the Augustine Friars with Antione’s older brother Ferdinand standing in for Louis (monarchs and heirs to throne hardly ever left their countries).
Two days later, the newly styled Marie Antoinette set of for her new life at Versailles, where public wedding ceremony was held on May 16th. At the death of Louis XV she became Queen of France in 1774. She and Louise XVI were a mismatched, un-romantic pair but grew to love and respect each other a great deal. They had four children, but their lives were torn apart by the French Revolution (which many wrongly blamed on Marie Antoinette’s extravagant lifestyle).
Louis XVI was sent to the guillotine in 1793 and Marie Antoinette followed her husband nine months later. The two had refused to separate, even though it would have been much easier to flee if they had split up. They are now buried together in the Cathedral of Saint Denis, Paris.
Grace Kelly, movie beauty and girl-about-town met Prince Rainier at a photo-op during theCannes Film Festival in 1955. The two began a passionate long distance correspondence which ended in their engagement and Kelly’s abandonment of America and her beloved film career.
The “wedding of the century” took place in Monaco in 1956. Grace dubbed it the “carnival of the century”, filmed by MGM, clogged by reporters and attended by both Hollywood and actual Royalty.
As Prince and Princess of Monaco the Rainier’s were a glamorous and charitable couple. With his wit and vision and Grace’s elegance, kindness and high profile they brought Monaco a new international prominence it had never previously enjoyed. The pair had three children- Caroline, Albert and Stephanie and both were very hand- on and loving parents.
Though rumors of infidelity swirled around the couple (Grace was adamant that her “life was no fairytale”) they were together till Grace died tragically in a car accident on Sept. 14, 1982.
Many friends say Rainier never really got over his wife’s early death. On the 20th anniversary on her passing in 2002 a now elderly Rainer released the following statement: “Twenty years after her disappearance, Princess Grace is always present in our hearts and in our thoughts”
Well, we’ve learned one thing about our readers. They love penguins! And that means Evelyn & Omar have won again for the third week in a row! See if they win for a fourth (and final) week next week. Voting starts on Monday!

Okay, so his birthday isn’t until April 23rd but we wanted to give a big Proposal shout-out to Wedding Planner extraordinaire David Tutera!

2. Jackie Lawinski & Michael Porco
Location: New York City
Date: February, 2010
Jackie writes: Michael and I met in San Diego February 2, 2007. Ironically, we both came from New York, moving 3,000 miles only to find each other! From the moment we met, we were inseparable. After three years of dating, we decided it was time to move back home to be closer to our families. We planned a cross country road trip, taking ten days to drive from San Diego to New York, stopping in various cities along the way. The ultimate goal was to reach New York by February 2nd, our three year anniversary.
The trip didn’t exactly go as planned, or at least what I THOUGHT was the plan. We ended up (I mean, I ended up) running over a metal rod in the road which tore a hole in our gas tank, leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere for two days. In addition, we chose to drive cross country during one of the biggest snow storms middle America has had for years, causing our trip to be re-routed again and again. And lastly, when we FINALLY made it to New York, what I thought was our three year anniversary dinner, turned out to be something much different, the best night of my life actually…the night he proposed!!
And we caught it all on tape!!! Here is the video he made:

Ryan writes:
Alyssa has always been a fan of Ellen Degeneres and would tell me how awesome it would be to get engaged on her show. She had applied to get tickets to her show because she was a huge fan. She was not home when they called to tell her she was selected. I had asked the person on the phone what I would have to do to set it up. He had no idea so I had to take matters into my own hands. My friend worked on Desperate Housewives and The Ellen Show was trying to get their cast on the show. Publicity for Desperate Housewives put me in touch with the producers and the ball started rolling.
We happened to get on their Valentine’s Day episode and even when we got out of the car to go in my wife asked jokingly “Do you have the ring?” I thought she was on to me and my friend that was going with us to the show to watch it all go down. To make a long story short, I proposed on The Ellen Show.
My secret deeds were not done. I told her we would go to dinner by the beach and then swing by her parents house to show then the ring. When we showed up to the restaurant I had all her family and friends waiting to surprise her. I then gave her a photo album of our first year together and all the great things we had done.
My surprises were not over…. The next day I told her we were going to help some friends shoot a project by LAX and we had to pick up some equipment at the airport that the show I worked on at the time was lending us. I told her I needed her help and had my friend drive my car and secretly packed her bags in the trunk for a weekend getaway to Maui. We got married in Laguna Beach June 7th, 2008. Below is a link to the actual proposal.

Today in wedding history Ivana Trump married her actor lover Rossano Rubicondi. The two met when Massimo Gargia introduced them while they were on the Riviera in 2002.
After a six-year relationship, they married in Florida. It was a true family event. Trump’s daughter Ivanka was her maid of honor, and her ex-husband Donald hosted the event at his Florida estate. The wedding of the year cost $3 million and was attended by over 400 guests.
Though as the saying goes, money can’t buy you love, and as of March 2010, the couple reportedly are getting divorced. These on again, off again lovers may reconcile, and we wish them the best of luck.
Rob Reiner and Penny Marshall have a lot in common. They both starred in hit comedy shows in the 1970s (Reiner, All in the Family; Marshall, Laverne & Shirley), they’re both successful film directors. They even grew up on the same block in New York (until Reiner was 12 and the family moved to California.) And today in 1971, they married each other.
The wedding took place at the home of Reiner’s parents in Beverly Hills. Their garden ceremony culminated with a Chinese food reception. Reiner and Marshall wrote their own vows.
A few years later, when Reiner’s character on All in the Family got married, he wrote the character’s vows as well. At the time, he told a reporter that writing his own vows were easier than writing the ones for the show.
Despite all their commonalities, the marriage didn’t last and the couple divorced in 1979. Since then, they’ve concentrated on their directing careers and have both solidified their place in film.
