Today in wedding history Indian princess Pocahontas married Jamestown settler
John Rolfe.
The colonial, originally from England, fell in love with her while she was staying with a Virginia Indian tribe. After they married, they lived on John’s plantation for two years before moving to England.
Though little is known about their wedding and marriage. Historians have said that their union created peace between the Powhatan tribe and the English settlers.
