Ian Fleming & Ann Charteris

Today in wedding history one of the world’s most celebrated authors married his very own Bond Girl. Ian Fleming, the mastermind behind the James Bond stories as well as such classics as Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,met Ann Charteris in 1939. However the couple didn’t marry until 1952, during a small ceremony in Jaimaca.

It was his first marriage and her third. Though their love was a turbulent one, they had one son and it has been said that she influenced many of his stories and characters.

They were married until his death in 1964.
