Actress and former model, Rene Russo married screenwriter, Dan Gilroy, eighteen years ago today. The couple met when Russo was acting in the film Freejack, which was produced by Gilroy.

Russo, who had been married once before, decided to wait until after their wedding to consummate the marriage.

“I decided I wasn’t going to have sex until I got married this time. So that we would know each other as friends,” she told a reporter in 1992.

A year and a half after returning from their European honeymoon, which took them all over Italy, Russo gave birth to a daughter, Rose.

Years later, their devotion to each other and their child is just as strong.

Russo, who often avoids the spotlight, told a reporter, “The truth is I could take some films… but I’d rather
 stay home with my family and be in my garden.”
