“My name’s Paul, what’s yours?”

From any other Paul, this would be a normal way to begin a conversation with someone new. From this Paul however, it would seem rather shocking, especially since this Paul was part of a world-famous rock band. But alas, he opted for the not-so-flashy approach when he saw Linda Eastman photographing the band The Animals at the Bag o’ Nails in London on May 15, 1967. Though they didn’t see each other again for another year, it was obvious they had a strong connection, one which would eventually spark a nearly-thirty-year happy relationship.

If their closeness and adoration for one another weren’t apparent to those looking at them from the outside, quotes such as “Every love song I write is for Linda,” from Paul, and “We have lasted this long close together, so we must have something going for each other,” from Linda made them so.

Their marriage took place on March 12, 1969 at the Marylebone Register Office, and was later blessed at St. John’s Wood Church in London. Linda wore a fawn beige dress with a pale daffodil yellow coat, while Paul wore a gray suit with a yellow tie.

The inseparable couple had three children together along with Linda’s daughter from a previous marriage whom Paul adopted. They remained together through thick and thin until Linda’s death from breast cancer on April 17, 1998.
