Virginia Patterson Hensley & Gerald Cline
Fifty-seven years ago today, an aspiring country singer, Virginia Patterson Hensley married a contractor named Gerald Cline in Virginia. Soon after, Ms. Hensley shot to country music stardom as Patsy Cline.
Although their marriage only lasted four years, it is what gave Patsy Cline her name. Had she not married Cline, she might have always been Patsy Hensley. And who knows if that name would have caught on in the country music world?
Her artistic contributions include the songs of love and heartbreak including, “Crazy”, “I Fall to Pieces” and “Sweet Dreams.” She married three times in her brief life, but her songs live on in the hearts of romantics.
