Tori Amos & Mark Hawley

Hawley & Amos
Sometimes personal tragedy can bring a couple closer, as is the case in today’s couple. In 1996, songstress, Tori Amos was on tour when she discovered she was expecting a child with her sound engineer, Mark Hawley. A few months into the pregnancy, she suffered a miscarriage. It was that heartbreaking event which actually strengthened their relationship.
Amos immediately began working on a new album (The Choirgirl Hotel) to cope with the loss of their baby. Hawley collaborated with as the sound engineer and they spent more and more time together.
“We were the only two people that could really talk to each other about it,” she told an Us reporter in 1998.
As they grew closer, Hawley popped the question and as Amos told a The Times UK, “I just looked, and it felt like: ‘Yes. This is my dear friend…’”

Torchbearers lead the newlweds and their wedding party.
Just weeks after the release of The Choirgirl Hotel, the couple were married at the St. Lawrence Church in West Wycombe, England. It was a medieval-inspired affair, with torchbearers leading Amos in a silver cape and guests to the ceremony. A horse-drawn carriage whisked them away at the end of the evening.
Today, the couple is still going strong. And although they suffered the loss of one child, Amos and Hawley are now the proud parents of a daughter, Natashya Lórien, born in 2000.
