Amelia Earhart & George Palmer Putnam

Amelia Earhart & George Palmer Putnam
Today in Wedding History, Amelia Earhart married her beau, publisher and promoter, George Palmer Putnam.
Their romanceĀ began with a search! After George published Charles Lindbergh’s autobiography, he was soon contacted by Amy Guest, a wealthy woman who wanted to sponsor the female who could take the first-ever flight across the Atlantic Ocean.
The hunt was on and George soon found the young Amelia who would prove to be more than just a business venture. A bond was formed and the two married. Throughout their marriage George organized all of Amelia’s speaking engagements and her endorsements.
Though their marriage was tragically cut short after Amelia’s disappearance in 1937, they were a couple whose love and support for one another encouraged their determination and love of life.
