Don’t talk with your mouth full and cover your mouth when you yawn.

Everyone will admit to knowing these two important rules however most people forget to follow them. Remember, when you are eating, don’t talk. No one wants to see your food and most likely know one will understand you anyway. Same goes for yawning. Cover your mouth or everyone around you will learn how big your mouth is, literally.

Mr. & Mrs. Winwood

Mr. & Mrs. Winwood

Steve Winwood & Eugenia Crafton

In the early 1980s, nothing seemed to be going right for Steve Winwood. Within a year, both his manager and his best friend passed away and his marriage was in shambles. But in 1985, he teamed up with a new manager and moved to the U.S. to produce a new album.

One night, not long after arriving, he went to a small show at New York City’s Lone Star Cafe. There, he met Eugenia Crafton, a pretty blonde girl from Tennessee. From that moment on, things began to turn around.

Within a year Winwood had a successful album called “Back in the High Life”, and two Grammies. The album featured the hit single, “Bring me a higher love” and Crafton certainly brought him that, as shown by their marriage on January 18, 1987.

Twenty-three years later, Winwood and Crafton are still living the high life, in Nashville, Tennessee with their four children.

Meeting one’s future father-in-law is a scary situation for any one. But when that father-in-law happens to be the master of suspense, it’s gotta be downright terrifying.

On January 17, 1952, Patricia Hitchcock, actress and daughter of the great Alfred Hitchcock, married Joseph E. O’Connell. The ceremony took place at Our Lady Chapel at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.

Fifty-eight years later, the couple have three grown daughters, several grandchildren and live in Solvang, CA.

<i> The Robinsons </i>

The Robinsons

Edward G. Robinson & Jane Adler

May-December romances have been part of Hollywood’s culture since its golden era.

In 1958, 64-year-old actor, Edward G. Robinson, known for playing tough guys and gangsters, wed New York dress designer, Jane Adler, who was 38 at the time.

Even in the days before TMZ and The National Enquirer, Robinson and his bride were fodder for gossip, not only because of their age difference but because they fell in love while he was still married to his first wife.

They overcame the drama surrounding their nuptuals and remained together for the rest of Robinson’s life .

In 1971, he was told he’d be presented an honorary Oscar but died two months before the ceremony. His wife accepted the award on his behalf and read the acceptance speech he had written for the occasion.

Couple: Stanley Kubrick & Christiane Harlan

Stanley Kubrick didn’t know that he was going to be a film legend as he set out to make his third feature film. The married director also didn’t know that he would fall in love.

In 1956, Kubrick’s first marriage to Toba Metz was deteriorating when he went to Munich to make the war movie Paths to Glory. While on location, he cast a young Christiane Harlan to play a small role in the final scene of the movie.

Since Kubrick shot the film in chronological order, he and Harlan spent the entire production getting to know one another. By the time she shot her scene, they were already engaged.

The two were married on January 15, 1958, shortly after Kubrick divorced his first wife.

Stanley and Christiane’s relationship may have begun under questionable circumstances, but it turned out to be more than just a fling, lasting 41 years (until his death in 1999).

Besides, all is fair in love and war. That goes for war movies too.

<i> Marilyn Monroe & Joe Di Maggio, moments after saying "I Do."</i>

Marilyn Monroe & Joe DiMaggio, moments after saying "I Do."

Marilyn Monroe & Joe DiMaggio

The Slugger and The Bombshell made headlines when they married at San Francisco’s City Hall on January 14th 1954.

The two met each other through the press agent Dave Marsh, at the request of DiMaggio and they began dating soon after!

The picture perfect couple may have looked the part, but DiMaggio who had recently retired wasn’t ready to be husband to Marilyn’s busy schedule.

Though their marriage only lasted eight months, the love and respect they had for one another will forever hold a place in wedding history.

After Monroe passed away at the young age of 36, Joe sent a half-dozen red roses three times a week to her grave until he passed away.

It just proves that these iconic figures will have a truly iconic love.

Grace’s Tip of the Day: Cover Yourself

By Social Grace
We're now hiring!

Image by Zach Klein via Flickr

When applying for a new job always include a cover letter; whether it’s required or not. It’s professional and tells the employer a little more about you…a great cover letter can take a small resume a long way!

Cover letters are a huge part of your resume. This is the first introduction you will have with your potential employer. What better way to kick start an awesome work relationship than with the benefit of a handy cover letter?

Biggest thing to remember: Check for spelling!!!

Send it to a friend to proofread if you have had problems with spelling and grammar in the past.

Whether it is sent through email if applying online or hand-delivered to the place of business, as long as you make it professional yet personal it will serve it’s purpose and benefit you in the long run.

The Framptons

The Framptons

Peter Frampton & Tina Elfers

Musician Peter Frampton, best known for his songs “Show Me the Way” and “Baby, I Love Your Way”, certainly found a way to make his romance with Tina Elfers work.

The two originally met in 1979 at one of his concerts in Cincinnati.

“She was sitting there looking disinterested and I said, that’s the one for me. There’s no challenge when they’re after you,” Frampton told an Ohio news station in 2007.

After their brief relationship fizzled, the two moved on with their lives, even marrying other people. But in 1992, both had divorced and Frampton found himself again in Cincinnati.

They rekindled their romance and on January 13, 1996, they finally married.

Today, they have a daughter and are heavily involved in charity work.

Things to do when you grow old together

By Tia Ayers

If you and your partner are fortunate enough to be married for 62 years, maybe you’ll be able to do something as cool as this!

This couple went to the Mayo Clinic, where one of them was getting a checkup. They noticed the piano in the lobby and decided to entertain the waiting patients. Luckily, someone caught this magical moment on camera!

Thanks to Rosemary Sparks for sharing this with us!

Grace’s Tip of the Day: Champagne Etiquette

By Social Grace
Bubbly?

Always drink your champagne after the toast is said. Never drink before!

When attending a wedding reception, traditionally, the newly married couple will be introduced to their guests via some sort of host or DJ.

Then after everyone stops cheering, a series of toasts will begin.

It normally begins with the Best Man & then the Maid of Honor. Then the Bride’s Father & Mother will give their speeches.

Finally, the couple will stand up and toast their families and friends who are with them that day.

Although, it’s a nice gesture, beware of opening the floor to anyone who wants to say a toast. As people drink more, they lose their inhibitions and might lose their fears of public speaking.

I once attended a wedding where the toasts went so long that they only had time for 15 minutes of dancing. No one wants their wedding reception to become an open mike.
