There’s nothing like a long, hot summer to get your heart pumping!

That’s how Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward began their relationship on the set of the film, The Long Hot Summer. As their friendship grew, Newman and Woodward soon realized that their love was going to last longer than the shooting schedule.

The couple wed on January 29th 1958 at the Hotel El Rancho Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada.

“We are very, very different people and yet somehow we feed off those varied differences and instead of separating us, it has made the whole bond a lot stronger,” Newman said of his wife.

And Woodward said of her husband, “Being married to Paul is being married to the most considerate, romantic man.”

It’s no wonder that their marriage lasted over fifty years.
