Whoever sang “It Never Rains in Sunny California” didn’t go to Danny DeVito & Rhea Perlman’s wedding on this day in 1982.

The couple, who had been together for 11 years before making it official, were wed in a rainy, garden ceremony on a Thursday** afternoon.

Known for their work in comedy, they couldn’t help but interject humor into their nuptuals. The two walked down the aisle to a recording of Our Gang’s Alfalfa singing “I’m in the Mood for Love.”

Perlman wore a rented antique gown because she reportedly couldn’t decide between a sweatsuit or a T-shirt.  To top it off, the ceremony took place during DeVito’s lunch break from the show “Taxi.” No word on whether he made it back to work on time.

After 28 years of marriage (and 39 years of partnership), the couple are still in the mood for love and it’s safe to say, laughter is always at their side.
