George Harrison & Patti Boyd
A Beatle married a beauty on this day in 1966. George Harrison, known as the quiet Beatle, met model Patti Boyd when she was cast in the band’s movie “A Hard Day’s Night” in 1964.
Boyd had an uncredited role as a girl on a bus and Harrison was immediately smitten with her. She had a boyfriend at the time, but Harrison ultimately won her heart. They were married 18 months later in a ceremony in Epsom, Surrey. Paul McCartney was Harrison’s best man.
Although their marriage wasn’t forever, it did inspire one of the greatest love songs of modern times.
Harrison wrote the song “Something” for Boyd in 1968. They split up in 1977, but the song remains as a memory of their love.
Listen to “Something” below!
