Grace’s Tip of the Day: Common Courtesy

By Social Grace

While ordering your daily cup-o-joe, actually look at the Barista and say hello… so many people tend to forget that yes, there is an actual person standing in front of them!

We at Proposal didn’t think this was necessary to mention but after some recent visits to our local coffee shop we realized that a lot of our fellow coffee drinkers were a little short of common courtesy. It doesn’t matter if you need your daily fix, tell them hello, ask them how their day is going and even learn their name! It will not only make their day but believe us, you will be more well liked.

This Week on Proposal Magazine

By Tia Ayers

proposal_logoHappy New Year, everyone!

We at Proposal have started the new year off with a huge goal:  To bring you the latest news and stories on proposals, weddings, event planning and more.

What you’ll see this week on Proposal Magazine:

Today in Wedding History – Have you ever wanted to know who was married on your anniversary? Or maybe you just like celebrity trivia? Every day, we feature a famous couple who was married Today in Wedding History (TIWH).

Social Grace’s Tip of the Day – Bringing you modern hints for wedding, hosting and every day etiquette. Social Grace also gives advice on your personal questions on how to deal with your issues with poise.

Fiance of the Month – He’s hot, available and he’s down on one knee. This week you’ll meet our Fiance of the Month for the month of January. Unlike the proposal of the week, this isn’t a real groom. He’s the monthly man of our marriage fantasies. (Don’t worry he’s clothed…. well, mostly.)

The Home-Schooled Hostess – Our editor Shannon is on a mission to get a Ph.D in hosting. As she learns tricks on hosting events from engagement parties to weddings, she’ll share her notes along the way.

And Further into the Future:

Soon we’ll be launching our Proposal of the Week Contest. Each week, we’ll feature three real life proposals. You vote for the best story! Submit your own stories at yourstory@proposalmagazine.com. We reveal the winners on Friday.

We’ll also be giving you interviews with wedding industry pros that will help you prepare for the big day, along with resource pages and more!

So welcome to a new year with Proposal Magazine!

TIWH: January 4th

By Tia Ayers

blanc02

Date: January 4, 1933
Couple: Mel Blanc & Estelle Rosenbaum

He was known as “The Man of a Thousand Voices”, but when it came to women, Mel Blanc only had eyes for one. Before he became famous for voicing the roles of Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and countless others, he was just another guy in Hollywood trying to get a break. In the early ‘30s, he met a young woman named Estelle Rosenbaum while swing-dancing at the Ocean Park Ballroom in Santa Monica, CA.

They eloped on January 4, 1933 and soon moved to Portland, Oregon where they co-hosted a radio show called “Cobwebs and Nuts.” They returned to L.A. in 1935 and his career took off. His marriage was just as successful, lasting 56 years until his death in 1989.
