On this day in wedding history, Thomas Jefferson married Martha Wayles Skelton Jefferson at her father’s plantation in Virginia.

They both shared a love for music and it was one of the things that brought them together . The forefather even used to play the piano as his young wife sang. Though their marriage was cut short by her death in 1782 they set a beautiful example of love and devotion throughout their years together.
